Title: Lewis Hamilton Skips Sakhir Grand Prix due to COVID-19 Positive Result

In an unexpected turn of events, seven-time Formula 1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton found himself in self-isolation after testing positive for coronavirus. Hamilton, who only displayed mild symptoms, shared the news through his Mercedes team who also expressed hopes for his quick recovery.

The news came after Hamilton completed three tests last week, including one at the Bahrain International Circuit where he clinched victory in the Grand Prix of Bahrain. Each test returned a negative result. However, he woke up with mild symptoms on Monday and learned that one of his contacts prior to arriving in Bahrain had tested positive. Following additional tests, his positive result was confirmed.

Disappointed by his inability to participate in this weekend's races, Hamilton expressed his frustration on social media, emphasizing all the precautions his team and he had taken since the June season kickoff. Despite his weekly negative test results, Hamilton developed symptoms and requested another test, which unfortunately returned a positive result.

Mercedes has announced plans to replace Hamilton for this weekend's Sakhir Grand Prix. Bahrain is set to host the third doubleheader of the Formula 1 season 2020 on the last November weekend and the first December weekend.
