President Donald Trump has signed letters outlining tariff levels for 12 countries on goods exported to the United States, effective August 1, 2025. The specific countries targeted have not been publicly disclosed, but reports suggest that they include Vietnam, Iraq, Israel, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Laos, Lesotho, and Libya, among others.

The tariff rates range widely, with some countries facing tariffs as high as 70%, according to earlier statements by Trump. The letters represent a mix of "take it or leave it" offers as part of Trump's aggressive trade renegotiation strategy.

In April, Trump announced a 10% base tariff rate and additional amounts for most countries. However, he declined to name the countries involved, stating they would be made public on Monday. The tariff rates for at least nine countries are known, ranging from 17% (Israel) to 50% (Lesotho) and up to 70% possible in some cases.

Vietnam has already taken steps to reduce tariffs on many of its goods, cutting them to 20%. It remains unclear if this move will affect its status in Trump's tariff plan.

Meanwhile, the 90-day suspension period for all but the 10% base rate in other sectors ended on July 9. The EU, which has failed to achieve a breakthrough in trade negotiations with the Trump administration, may now seek to extend the status quo to avoid tariff hikes.

This outlines the core details of the countries involved and the tariff levels as publicly available. The full details per country beyond those listed above remain undisclosed as of now. The tariffs will revert to these specified or previously set levels if deals are not reached by August 1, 2025.
