The series centres on Lestat's transformation from a rebellious, pleasure-seeking antagonist in Interview With the Vampire to the brooding protagonist of his own story. In The Vampire Lestat, he navigates 1980s France as his fame grows—not just as a musician on a high-energy multi-city tour, but as a figure wielding power over both vampires and humans. His journey triggers the Great Conversion, a pivotal moment in the vampire world.
Sam Reid takes on the role of Lestat, joined by Jacob Anderson as Louis, Delainey Hayles as Claudia, and a supporting cast including Assad Zaman, Eric Bogosian, and Jennifer Ehle. The series explores Lestat's evolution across Rice's novels, from *The Vampire Lestat* to *Blood Communion*, where he grapples with morality, divine encounters, and leadership of the vampire coven.
