Lessons from Past Errors: Insights from Felix Sturm - Lessons Gleaned from Personal Blunders by Felix Sturm

In an interview at his Cologne fitness studio, former boxing champion Felix Sturm shared his plans for a new boxing event. Despite his upcoming retirement, Sturm expressed a desire to attract a larger audience with this new venture.

Sturm, who turns 47 in January, won his last fight against Benjamin Blindert in February, securing the WBA "Gold Title" in the half-heavyweight division. However, he mentioned that there won't be many more fights for him. He could potentially continue boxing for another three to five years, but he plans to draw the line soon.

The father of two, Mahir (16) and Nahla (10), considers his children his pride and joy. He emphasised that his son's dreams in boxing, if any, will not be taken away by him. While his son might follow in his footsteps, Sturm wants to avoid putting too much pressure on him.

Sturm's son has not been mentioned as currently involved in boxing. The former boxer expressed that having a successful father in the same sport can be a burden. He does not wish to discuss his past mistakes anymore and instead wants to focus on moving forward.

Associated with RTL Germany, Sturm has become more cautious and distant towards people as a result of his experiences. After the stressful preparation for his last fight and a desire to spend more time with his family, he took a step back from boxing.

In 2020, Sturm was sentenced to prison for tax evasion. He did not elaborate on this matter during the interview.

The specifics of the new boxing event are yet to be revealed. However, Sturm's intention to attract a larger audience suggests that it could be a significant event in the boxing world. As he approaches retirement, Sturm's focus remains on leaving a lasting impact in the sport he loves.
