Ah, the intriguing pattern of birthdays throughout the week and on festive holidays! It's quite fascinating the way things pan out, isn't it?

Evidently, there's a noticeable surge in infant arrivals five days a week compared to the weekends or holidays. In fact, if we take a peek at the 2023 data, we see an average of 2,037 little cherubs joining the world daily from Monday to Friday, which is a substantial 28% more than the weekend average of 1,594 minuscule bundles of joy. So, if you're keeping score, that's roughly 1,899 new faces each day last year.

Now, hold onto your hats, because the festive season goes a step further in defying this pattern, with significantly fewer births reported on Easter and Christmas. In 2023, the grand total for these holidays was a paltry 1,444! The Federal Statistical Office didn't seem to have any inkling as to why this cherry on top of the cake deviated from the norm.

Curiously, summertime is the time for baby explosions, with July 10 taking the crown for the most births in 2023 (2,310) and Christmas the unwanted title for the least (a mere 1,357!). Going way back to the 80s, experts have spotted a sweet summertime trend: the highest birth rates usually spin in a hula hoop around July and August. Yep, you guessed it; 2023 wasn't immune to this summer madness, even managing to break the mold a tad by not fully embracing September's festivities.

However, despite this scorching summer birthway, the festive holiday numbers still remained a stubbornly low 1,444. This humble holiday count is quite the contrast to the year-round increase in births dragon, isn't it? It's possible that families are dabbling in a bit of calendar-matching, trying to keep those precious birthdays from crashing the family Christmas and Easter parties.

Wait, there's more...

Flooding, anyone? If you're not quite in the mood for joy-filled baby talk, how about some soul-crushing floods in southern Germany?
