Star doesn't want to sit in the director's chair - Leonardo DiCaprio rejects directing to stay in front of the camera forever

Leonardo DiCaprio has ruled out ever stepping into the role of a director. Despite his long and successful acting career, he insists he has no interest in sitting behind the camera. Instead, he reflects on missed opportunities to learn from one of his most frequent collaborators—Martin Scorsese.

DiCaprio and Scorsese have worked together repeatedly since Gangs of New York in 2002. Their partnership includes films like The Aviator, The Departed, and The Wolf of Wall Street. Yet, even with this close working relationship, DiCaprio admits he didn’t spend enough time watching Scorsese direct.

DiCaprio’s decision means his future projects will continue to feature him as an actor only. His respect for Scorsese’s craft has shaped his perspective, reinforcing his preference to leave directing to others. For now, audiences will see him on screen rather than calling the shots behind it.
