Leonard Cohen's concert, titled "Leonard Cohen: Hallelujah & Shalom," will take place on September 25, 19h, at the Evangelical Resurrection Church.

Lutz Debus and Holger Jenrich, two friends from Bork and Lünen in the Unna district, have been performing a programmatic-musical and narrative tribute to the late Canadian musician and writer, Leonard Cohen, since December 2023.

The duo first presented their show, "Hallelujah & Shalom," at the Old Synagogue Hagen-Hohenlimburg. Since then, they have taken their tribute on the road, performing in multiple states within Germany, including North Rhine-Westphalia, Lower Saxony, and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

Their upcoming performance is scheduled for September 20, 2025, at the Evangelical Auferstehungskirche, Vestische Straße 86 in Oberhausen-Osterfeld. The concert is set to start at 6:00 PM, with a "hat collection" at its conclusion.

The program features songs by Leonard Cohen, such as "Bird on a Wire," "Suzanne," and the iconic "Hallelujah." These songs, considered world heritage songs, are accompanied by stories about Cohen's life and work.

Leonard Cohen, known for his introspective and intellectual poetry, passed away in 2016. He was of Jewish and Buddhist faith and was known for writing and singing about themes such as freedom, love, death, and religion. Despite his introverted nature, he was also known to be an introverted ladies' man.

The Society for Christian-Jewish Cooperation Hagen invited Debus and Jenrich for their performance. The concert has taken place in various locations, including churches, bookstores, community halls, museums, synagogues, or cultural centers.

In addition to their performances, Debus and Jenrich have been guests with their tribute to Leonard Cohen at various events for the Chanukkah festival. Their scenic-musical tribute has been performed dozens of times, making it a beloved homage to Cohen's legacy.

On September 20, 2025, Debus will contribute guitar, double bass, and vocals, while Jenrich will provide the texts. Fans of Leonard Cohen and those who appreciate thoughtful, evocative music are encouraged to attend this special event.
