Leo XIV Disseminates Controversial Commentaries Regarding American Political Landscape

Hop on the Bandwagon! Facebook Twitter Whatsapp E-Mail Print Copy Link Both US President Trump and Vice President Vance congratulated Leo XIV on his new gig as Pope. However, the spiritual leader isn't grinning from ear to ear over the White House's decisions.

In the past few months before his coronation as Pope last week, Leo XIV shared a heap of articles on an online platform that dropped some serious heat on President Trump and the Vice President, who happens to be JD Vance, though there's been a bit of a mix-up in titles recently.

A comment on the platform X, pre-Papal days by the then-US cardinal Robert Prevost on February 3 read, "JD Vance is clueless: Jesus doesn't care about our priorities." This referred to an article in the National Catholic Reporter, raising flags about Vance using Catholic teachings to justify Washington's drastic slashes to foreign aid post-Trump's inauguration. Vance, who took a heartful dip in the holy water in 2019, argued that Christians ought to put their families first before the rest of the world, quoting a 12th-century thinker Thomas Aquinas that love for others should come second.

Just a few days later, Prevost pointed to an article where Vance responded to the late Pope Francis' criticism of the U.S.'s deportation of undocumented immigrants. In his final post before becoming Pope, the cardinal reblogged a post by a user skewering the U.S. government for their blunder in deporting a migrant to El Salvador.

"May the Good Lord be with 'im!"

Keeping Tabs Priest on Leo XIV's speech "Pope apparently disagrees with Trump supporters" Trump and Vance kept mum about the posts during their congratulations to Prevost post-elections. Vance, who had a quickie with Pope Francis a couple of hours before his demise on Easter Sunday, shared on X about the new Pope, "May the Good Lord be with 'im!" He thinks "millions of American Catholics and other Christians will pray for his successful leadership of the Church."

Trump regarded it as an "epic honor" for the U.S. that the U.S. cardinal made it to the big leagues as "the first American Pope." He's eager to catch up with the new Pope, proclaiming that it'll be a " major milestone."
