Trump and Vance didn't comment on Prevost's posts during their congratulations. Vance, who had a meeting with the late Pope Francis only hours before his demise on Easter Sunday, published on X: "May God bless him!" Trump described the election of the US cardinal as "a great honor" for the U.S., looking forward to meeting the new Pope. He wrote on his Truth Social platform: "That'll be a momentous occasion."
