Leningrad Region braces for spring floods with urgent energy safeguards
Komiteploenergo LLC is stepping up preparations for spring floods across the Leningrad Region. The company operates three thermal power plants and five district heating networks, all of which require protection during seasonal snowmelt. Teams are working to secure reliable heat supply and prevent damage to critical equipment.
Special commissions have already inspected riverside pumping stations and other key infrastructure. At Sosnogorsk Combined Heat and Power Plant, divers cleared silt and debris from hydraulic gates to ensure smooth water flow. Meanwhile, crews are removing snow and clearing access roads at all energy facilities.
Stormwater drainage systems are being checked for proper function, while repair teams have been supplied with vehicles, specialised equipment, and materials. Forthcoming works include repairs to the forebays of the shore-based pumping station at Sosnogorsk CHP. To handle potential emergencies, all personnel have completed safety briefings and response drills. Komiteploenergo's energy specialists are maintaining constant coordination with emergency services and local authorities. Hydrological conditions will be monitored 24/7 during the peak snowmelt period.
The measures aim to safeguard heat supply and prevent disruptions during spring flooding. With inspections, repairs, and round-the-clock monitoring in place, Komiteploenergo is preparing for the challenges of the coming weeks. Emergency response teams remain on standby to address any unforeseen issues.
