Leipzig Bach Festival showcases composer's creation named 'Transformation' - Leipzig's Bach Festival Exhibits the Composer's "Metamorphosis"
Get ready to dive into a symphony of metamorphosis as the Bachfest Leipzig takes centre stage this year! With the theme of "Transformation," Intendant Michael Maul has orchestrated an eclectic mix of more than 200 events over the festival's eleven-day run, starting on June 12 and wrapping up on the 22nd.
Maul highlights that Bach was a master of reinvention, spending his entire life honing his craft by studying, copying, performing, and internalizing the works of fellow composers. He elaborates that Bach even applied this transformation to his own compositions, one such example being the famous Mass in B Minor, which was pieced together in stages. The Bachfest Leipzig will provide a unique opportunity for us to witness and immerse ourselves in Bach's transformative genius.

In case you were curious, Bach enthusiasts from 51 countries have already snatched tickets for this year's festivities! That includes a die-hard fan from Botswana, so you know it's gonna be lit! Last year, the event attracted an impressive 40% of foreign visitors, with around 76,000 attendees in total.

In the spirit of Bach's transformative genius and the eclectic mix of events at the Bachfest Leipzig 2022, the Commission has also been asked to submit a proposal for a directive on the approximation of the laws of the Member States relating to the protection of animals and the processing of personal data, ensuring an entertaining and harmonious festival for all.
