Leipzig kicks off without its trio present

RB Leipzig will be without several key players for their home game against 1. FC Köln on the fourth matchday of the Bundesliga. The game, scheduled for 6:30 PM and set to be broadcast on Sky, will take place at the Red Bull Arena.

The Austrian international Xaver Schlager and the Norwegian talent Viggo Gebel are both out due to load management, while Benny Henrichs and Johan Bakayoko are unavailable due to a mild infection and an injury respectively. Lukas Klostermann and Johan Bakayoko were injured during the game against FSV Mainz 05, with Klostermann also being managed for load reasons.

The Norwegian player, aged 20, suffered a broken right forearm during the same game, and the recovery time depends on the healing process, as announced by Leipzig. The Austrian player, on the other hand, sustained a muscle injury in his right calf. Both players will not be available for the home game against 1. FC Köln due to their injuries.

The midfielder Johan Bakayoko was substituted in the 32nd minute of the 1:0 win last Saturday against FSV Mainz 05. The Austrian player, Xaver Schlager, was also reported as a casualty during the same game.

Despite these setbacks, RB Leipzig currently ranks seventh in the Bundesliga after three games, with six points. They are one point behind the third-placed team from the cathedral city. Their last game, against FSV Mainz 05, ended in a successful 1:0 win.

The first training session for the game was held on Saturday at the Red Bull Arena under the guidance of new coach Ole Werner. The team will be looking to bounce back from the absence of key players and continue their strong performance in the Bundesliga.
