In a significant turn of events, SC DHfK Leipzig claimed their first Bundesliga victory in eight games, triumphing over HSG Wetzlar with a stress-relieving margin of 30-18 on May 1, 2025, at the QUARTERBACK Immobilien ARENA. The home crowd witnessed an impressive performance from the Leipzigers, who held a substantial 13-9 advantage at halftime.

National player Franz Semper emerges as the match's standout scorer, contributing a commendable 11 goals to SC DHfK's tally. Goalkeeper Kristian Saeveras was also instrumental, denying 21 shots from Wetzlar. Semper and Saeveras led Leipzig's charge to their 12th league position, boasting a record of 19 wins, 37 losses.

Both goalkeepers showcased their skills in the opening stages, with Saeveras impressively saving all five HSG Wetzlar attempts initially. The first goal was notched by Vladimir Vranjes for SC DHfK, putting Leipzig in an early 2-1 lead. The Wetzlarer goalkeeper also impressed, but Leipzig gradually strengthened their offensive play after the 10th minute, displaying more variability and speed.

In spite of a six-minute scoring drought by SC DHfK, which allowed HSG Wetzlar to narrow the gap to 8-9, the Leipzigers quickly reestablished their dominance, thanks to Saeveras' outstanding saves (14 by halftime). Anadin Suljakovic provided a good showing on the opposing side, but the Leipzigers demonstrated greater potency in the backcourt, with Semper particularly prominent.

The second half commenced with Leipzig asserting their dominance, extending their lead to 20-13 by the 40th minute. Wetzlar's attempts at a comeback were promptly thwarted by the relentless Leipzigers, who maintained a consistent advantage until the final whistle.

Zacharias led HSG Wetzlar's scoring with 5 goals, while Ahouansou, who was later sent off with a red card in the 34th minute, contributed 2 goals. Despite their best efforts, Wetzlar struggled against Leipzig's defense, managing only 13 saves, significantly lower than the 21 recorded by SC DHfK. The discipline of the contest was also noteworthy, with Leipzig drawing only 2 minutes in penalties compared to Wetzlar's 6 minutes.

European-leagues witnessed an exciting match as SC DHfK Leipzig, due to standout performances from players like Franz Semper and goalkeeper Kristian Saeveras, clinched a win against HSG Wetzlar in the Bundesliga, scoring 30-18.
