Legendary Russian filmmaker Oleg Shukhe dies at 71 after cardiac arrest

Oleg Shukhe, a well-known film director and dean of VGIK's Directing Faculty, has died at the age of 71. His son confirmed the news to TASS, stating that the cause of death was cardiac arrest while Shukhe was in intensive care.

Shukhe passed away at 7:30 a.m. in a hospital. Born on March 31, 1954, he studied under renowned filmmaker Marlen Khutsiev before establishing his own career in cinema.

Over the years, Shukhe directed several notable films, including *Lucky Girl*, *Old Young People*, and *Stories of the Twentieth Century*. He also worked as a director and screenwriter at Mosfilm and Chistye Prudy Studios, with films such as *Vezuchaya* (1987) and *Starye molodye lyudi* (1992) among his credits. Additionally, he collaborated with major TV channels like TVC, Rossiya, and Kultura. The date and location of his farewell ceremony have yet to be announced.

Shukhe leaves behind a legacy in Russian cinema, having contributed both as an educator and a filmmaker. His work at VGIK and in film production will be remembered by colleagues and audiences alike.
