Richard Freeman, the new owner of Elite Motorsports, purchased the team that was once owned by Josh Hart. This acquisition will allow Stewart to work as both an owner and a driver, a role he has been eager to take on.
Stewart's move to Elite Motorsports means he will race against his wife, Leah Pruett, who will race in the Direct Connection Dodge//SRT Top Fuel dragster in 2026. Pruett took more than a year off from racing to give birth to their first child, Dominic. During her absence, Stewart filled in for her in the races.
However, the team that Stewart will drive for still needs funding for his car. Despite this, the team has a marketing alliance with Tony Stewart Racing, which could potentially help in securing sponsorships.
