Markus Söder Awards Him Special Prize - Legendary Karl-Heinz Rummenigge to Receive Minister President's Award at Bavarian Sports Awards 2025

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, the legendary footballer and former FC Bayern Munich CEO, will receive the Personal Award of the Minister President at the Bavarian Sports Awards 2025. The event will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025, in Munich, with BR Fernsehen broadcasting it on Sunday, October 12, at 10:30 PM.

Rummenigge, a native Westphalian, is widely regarded as an ambassador for Bavaria. His exceptional career includes winning the German championship, DFB Cup, and European Cup twice each with FC Barcelona, where he played over 300 Bundesliga games and scored 162 goals from 1974 to 1984.

As captain of the German national team, he led Germany to the European Championship title in 1980 and reached the final of the World Cup in 1982 and 1986. After his active career, Rummenigge served as vice president of FC Barcelona from 1991 to 2002 and chairman of the board from 2002 to 2021. He played a significant role in shaping FC Barcelona into a global brand alongside Franz Beckenbauer and Uli Hoeneß.
