New Thai Rom-Com, Nak Rak Mak, Maak Mak, Set to Rekindle Legendary Mae Nak Legend with a Modern Twist
Prepare yourselves for a unique blend of romance, comedy, and supernatural elements with the upcoming Thai film, Nak Rak Mak, Maak Mak, (Nak Loves Mak So Much). Adapted from the timeless Thai folklore, this film promises to offer a fresh take on the famous legend of Mae Nak Phra Khanong.
This innovative production is a collaboration between Nation Group (Thailand), Black Dragon Entertainment, and Transformation Films. It is the directorial debut of renowned comedian, Choosak "Nong Cha-cha-cha" Eamsuk, who has garnered the trust of industry veterans such as Petchtai "Mum Jokmok" Wongkamlao, a Thai film director.
The film's cast features Narilya "Yada" Gulmongkolpech as Nang Nak and Perawat "Krist" Sangpotirat as Krist, the reincarnation of Pee Mak. Supporting Jak-khao is a star-studded lineup, with legendary comedians Petchtai "Mum Jokmok" Wongkamlao and Pongsak "Teng Therdtherng" Pongsuwan reuniting with Nong Cha-cha-cha after a 15-year hiatus. They join other popular talents, such as Mongkol "Nine The Comedian" Saaadboonyapat and Chonpipat "From" Choosang.
Emotions ran high as Nong Cha-cha-cha expressed gratitude for industry legends placing their trust in his directing abilities. Teng Therdtherng encouraged audiences to take time off from daily stress and enjoy the film. Yada promised an entertaining mix of romance, drama, and comedy.
As in the classic love legend, the film follows the story of Pued, the ambitious director, and his trusted assistant, Uncle. But, when the real Mae Nak appears on set, determined to find her reincarnated love, the project takes an unexpected turn, leading to an intriguing battle between reality and artistry.
