Legendary Actress June Lockhart Dies at 100

Veteran actress June Lockhart, best known for her roles in 'Lassie' and 'Lost in Space', has passed away at the age of 100. She was surrounded by her loved ones at her Santa Monica home.

Lockhart's illustrious career spanned over eight decades. She began acting at the age of 8 and made her screen debut at 13 in 'A Christmas Carol'. In 1939, she had her first Broadway appearance, and in 1947, she won the inaugural Tony Award for Best Newcomer for her role in 'For Love or Money'.

Lockhart was a contract player for MGM, appearing in films like 'Meet Me in St. Louis' and 'She-Wolf of London'. However, she is most recognised for her television roles. She played Ruth Martin in the classic series 'Lassie' and Maureen Robinson in the science fiction show 'Lost in Space'. Following the latter, she became a NASA spokesperson, attending numerous space launches and landings.

Lockhart's family has requested donations to The Actors Fund, ProPublica, and International Hearing Dog, Inc. in lieu of flowers. She leaves behind a legacy that includes two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, one for film and another for television. Her contributions to the entertainment industry will be remembered and celebrated.
