Robert Redford, the legendary actor, director, and environmental activist, passed away at his home in Utah on September 16, 2025, at the age of 89. His publicist, Cindi Berger, confirmed the news.

Born on August 18, 1936, in Santa Monica, California, Redford rose to fame in the 1970s and 1980s, starring in iconic films such as "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid," "The Candidate," "The Sting," "The Way We Were," "The Great Waldo Pepper," "All the President's Men," and "Out of Africa," where he co-starred with Meryl Streep.

Redford was also the founder of the Sundance Institute, known for the Sundance Film Festival, which has been a launching pad for numerous independent filmmakers' careers. His directorial debut came with "Ordinary People" in 1980.
