A Shakeup in Quebec's Political Landscape

Get ready, folks! Some major changes are in the works in our beloved province of Quebec. Here's the tea on the new appointments that went down in a closed-door meeting of the Council of Ministers.

The Queen of Finance herself, Julie Gingras (the first female in this esteemed position, might I add), is swapping finance for the Ministry of Executive Council. She'll be taking on the role of Associate Secretary General, with the Secretariat of Senior Jobs under her belt.

Stepping into Julie's vacated position in the Ministry of Finance is none other than Christine Tremblay, the current CEO of the Quebec Revenue Agency.

Meanwhile, Marc Croteau is ascending the ranks to take over the Undersecretary position at the Ministry of Transportation. He's moving from Public Security, where the new Undersecretary, Patrick Dubé, is setting sail. Patrick, you might recall, was the Secretary to the Treasury Board, but Danielle Cantin is taking his place and scoring a well-deserved promotion to the associate secretary for Budgetary Policies.

Last but not least, Frederick Guay, who was previously holding it down at Transportation, is on the move to become the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Environment.

These new appointments will all kick into gear on July 2nd.

(It's important to note that, based on my knowledge, undersecretaries in provincial governments, such as Quebec, are typically appointed to assist ministers in specific ministries. However, the names and postings for these appointments as of June 2025 have not been reflected in the available sources. If you're eager to learn more about the latest official information regarding newly appointed Undersecretaries in the Quebec government, I recommend checking out the official Quebec government website or the most recent press releases from the Quebec Premier’s office or Ministry of the Government Secretariat. Cheers!)

  1. The upcoming changes in Quebec's political landscape, including the reshuffling of ministerial positions, may impact various policy-and-legislation areas, such as finance, executive council, transportation, and environment.
  2. The shift in positions, such as Julie Gingras moving from finance to the Executive Council, Christine Tremblay taking over finance, and Frederick Guay assuming the Undersecretary role at the Ministry of Environment, signals a significant political shift in Quebec's general news.
