Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni, two prominent figures in the entertainment industry, find themselves embroiled in a contentious legal dispute over allegations made during the production of the movie "It Ends With Us."

Lively has accused Baldoni of sexual harassment and retaliation, claiming that he pressured her into simulating full nudity unexpectedly and entered her trailer uninvited while she was vulnerable. The complaint also describes severe emotional distress caused by Baldoni's alleged conduct.

In response, Baldoni filed a countersuit against Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, their publicist Leslie Sloane, and the public relations company Vision PR, seeking $400 million for defamation and extortion. However, a federal judge dismissed Baldoni's $400 million countersuit entirely in late July 2025, marking a significant legal victory for Lively. Baldoni’s legal team indicated intentions to amend and refile the suit, but Lively’s spokesperson denied the validity of such plans after the dismissal.

The trial for these disputes is scheduled to start on March 9, 2026, as per court orders. Lively's deposition, held under a protective order and closed to the public, began in early August 2025. Baldoni’s legal team aims to challenge her accusations, possibly using video evidence depicting Lively “flirting” and “joking” with Baldoni on set as part of their defense strategy.

Baldoni has also filed a separate $250 million lawsuit against The New York Times, accusing the paper of libel and fraud. The New York Times maintains confidence in its reporting and is prepared to defend against the suit.

Lively's legal action mirrors many of the accusations included in a civil rights complaint she lodged in California back in December. In her current suit, Lively requests compensatory damages, including lost wages and compensation for "mental pain and anguish," though she does not specify a precise amount.

Both parties have expressed fervent defenses of their actions amidst allegations of misconduct within the film industry. The legal conflict between Lively and Baldoni continues to unfold, capturing significant media attention.

The film "It Ends With Us," an adaptation of a best-selling novel by Colleen Hoover, premiered last summer. The movie features both Lively and Baldoni.

This ongoing dispute serves as a reminder of the importance of addressing and addressing issues of misconduct within the entertainment industry. As the trial approaches, both parties will have the opportunity to present their evidence and arguments, potentially leading to resolution in the case.
