Legal proceedings initiated by Prince Harry in response to offensive remarks concerning Meghan Markle
In a recent turn of events, Prince Harry's legal team has issued a legal notice to a publication, following allegations made in a forthcoming biography about derogatory comments Prince Andrew is said to have made about Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex.
The biography, titled Andrew, Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York, penned by Andrew Lownie, alleges various negative comments made by Prince Andrew regarding Meghan Markle and an alleged physical altercation between Prince Harry and Prince Andrew. However, it is important to note that these allegations have not been confirmed, and Prince Harry has publicly denied the claim of any physical altercation with his uncle.
The legal notice was issued in response to a report published by Newsweek on Sunday, which claimed that during a family gathering in 2013, Harry and Andrew got into a heated argument over comments Andrew supposedly made about Meghan Markle, leading to punches being thrown and Andrew ending up with a bloody nose.
Prince Harry's representative has firmly denied these allegations, stating that Harry and Andrew have never fought physically and that Andrew never made the alleged comments about Meghan Markle. The spokesperson also confirmed that the biography, which has not yet been published, has not been addressed by either Prince Harry or Prince Andrew's representatives.
The lawyers were called in due to the 'gross inaccuracies, damaging, and defamatory remarks' in the Newsweek story. In addition to the physical altercation allegation, the biography also alleges that Prince Andrew called Meghan Markle "too old" for Prince Harry and that marrying her would be his "biggest mistake ever."
Earlier, Harry's team had denied the claims made in the report, and the biography's allegations have not been addressed publicly by either prince's representatives. It is unclear at this time how the legal notice will affect the publication or distribution of the biography.
