Armaan Malik Faces Legal Trouble for Alleged Bigamy and Religious Sentiment Offence

YouTuber and Bigg Boss OTT 3 contestant Armaan Malik is currently embroiled in legal issues after being summoned by the Patiala district court. The court summons are related to allegations of bigamy and hurting religious sentiments, made by Davinder Rajput.

The bigamy charges allege that Armaan Malik has married four times, violating the Hindu Marriage Act, which only allows one marriage at a time for Hindus. He is alleged to have married his second wife, Kritika Malik, without divorcing his first wife, Payal Malik.

The petition also accuses Armaan and Payal of hurting religious sentiments because Payal appeared dressed as the Hindu goddess Kali in a video posted on Instagram. This act is considered an insult to religious beliefs and is punishable under Indian law.

The court has asked Armaan, Payal, and Kritika Malik to appear in court on 2 September 2025. The summons were issued in two separate cases against Armaan Malik.

Following the backlash over the religious sentiments case, Armaan and Payal reportedly made public efforts to atone. They visited the Kali Mata Temple in Patiala and offered a prayer and an apology on 22 July. On 23 July, Payal served a seven-day religious punishment in a Kali Temple in Kharar, Mohali, which included several rituals and temple cleaning. The couple also visited Haridwar to seek forgiveness from Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Kailashanand Giri of the Niranjani Akhara.

Legally, under the Hindu Marriage Act, bigamy can attract up to seven years of imprisonment and fines. The ongoing court proceedings are taking place in the Patiala district court.
