Jan and Axel's Drama Unravels in the Latest "Tatort" Installment

In the thriller's denouement, do romantic ties unravel? - Leaving Friendships Behind: Involved in a Criminal Scene?

Get ready to be glued to your screens as the new Münster "Tatort" title "Fiderallala" (airing: April 6, 20:15, Das Erste) brings the thrill, chuckles, and iconic banter between forensic pathologist Prof. Karl-Friedrich Boerne and main commissioner Frank Thiel back for another round. This time, it's all about student housing shortages creating a volatile atmosphere with deadly repercussions. And guess what? Boerne even kicks Thiel out of his apartment!

In an exclusive chat with WDR, key players Jan Josef Liefers (60) and Axel Prahl (65) dish on their roles, the intricate relationships between their characters, and the obstacles they face in solving the case.

Friendship on the Rocks

In this episode, Boerne dupes Thiel into attending a student party under false pretenses. Initially, things seem smooth sailing, but things quickly take a turn for the worse, leading to increased animosity between the duo. When asked if real friendships require a heated exchange to prove their worth, Prahl offers a thought-provoking response: "Difficulties are the stepping stones of success," as an old wise man once said. "So yeah, I'd say so."

Liefers chimes in, placing the source of conflicts on the characters' personalities: "Probably, it's their egos that clash every once in a while." But as you might expect, their friendship endures, and they manage to patch things up in the end.

Operatic Showdown and the Test of Patience

This case leads the unconventional pair into the world of students and their various troubles – a terrain that Boerne feels right at home in. "Murder among intellectuals," Liefers jokes, "it's practically a walk in the park for Boerne."

Indeed, our beloved professor flaunts his diverse skillset – from psychological assessments to linguistic prowess to his operatic knowledge. However, where does he draw the line between talent and pretentiousness? Liefers ponders: "It's possible that Boerne's candid, blunt approach would make him a questionable choice for a high-profile diplomat or couples counselor."

And it's not just Boerne's eccentricities that test Thiel's restraint. When addressing how he manages to maintain his cool without losing his temper regularly, Prahl speaks with his typical wit: "Ask Thiel about the night guard his dentist prescribed him three weeks ago. If there's any left, that is."

Liefers adds with a playful wink: "What appears as calm composure on Commander Thiel is actually sheer lethargy paired with continuous digestion because a large pizza Capricciosa is a considerable load of carbs and fats."
