Duisburg's 10-Year-Old Border Collie Trouble Competes in Top Dog Germany

Melanie Fydrich, the owner and dog trainer of Trouble, a 10-year-old Border Collie from Duisburg, has signed up for the RTL show "Top Dog Germany" with her beloved canine companion. Trouble, one of the oldest dogs in the competition, is known for her speed, outpacing her younger counterpart, Challenge, but prioritizing different goals.

Trouble is a seasoned competitor, having participated in numerous events. Despite her age, she remains fit and enjoys the competition course, according to Fydrich. However, there's one obstacle that has been causing Trouble some trouble - the tire.

Fydrich has been working diligently with Trouble to overcome her fear of tires, a mental issue that has been a challenge for both the dog and her trainer. The outcome of their tire training will be revealed on Friday, August 15, at 8:15 PM on RTL.

The training process for Trouble has been a gradual one, involving exposure to the tire, positive reinforcement, and patience. Fydrich has been carrying a tire with her and practicing start rituals with Trouble everywhere, preparing them for the tire course.

Fydrich tested Trouble's tire training at a dog show in Dortmund, where they had a tire course. Despite the initial hesitation, Trouble has been making progress, and Fydrich is hopeful that this will be Trouble's last competition.

The competition has provided a welcome distraction for Fydrich after the loss of her family dog, Snow, who passed away at the age of 17 in January. Snow's passing left a void in the family, but Challenge, a one-year-old dog, has provided comfort and companionship since then.

The RTL show has been filming the competition, providing viewers with a glimpse into the emotional journey of the participants and their dogs. Fydrich's goal for the show this year is to overcome Trouble's fear of tires, a feat that would be a testament to their bond and determination.

Trouble's agility trainer is Philipp Müller-Schnick, who has been instrumental in helping Trouble master the other obstacles in the competition. Fydrich's dedication and Müller-Schnick's expertise have made Trouble a formidable competitor in the world of dog agility.

As the competition heats up, fans of Trouble and Fydrich are eagerly awaiting their performance on the tire course. Their journey is a testament to the power of determination, love, and the unbreakable bond between a human and their dog.

Amidst her attempts to conquer Trouble's fear of tires, Melanie Fydrich also finds solace in the excitement of the competition, merging her love for entertainment and sports. After overcoming this last obstacle, Trouble, the seasoned competitor, could potentially leave a lasting impact on the world of dog agility.
