Philippine Wushu sensation Carlos Baylon Jr. snatched the top spot in the Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) monthly achievers for April. Hailing from Negros Occidental, Baylon, a 27-year-old with eleven years on the national team, shone at the International Wushu Federation (IWUF) 10th Sanda World Cup in Jiangyin, China. He claimed back-to-back victories against opponents like Hio Lam Ku of Macau and Saydullo Abdurashitov of Uzbekistan.

Meanwhile, sambo martial artist Sydney Sy Tancontian and para-taekwondo athlete Allain Ganapin were the other monthly achievers. Tancontian won gold in the Asia and Oceania Sambo Championships, while Ganapin secured the bronze at the 7th World Taekwondo President's Cup – Asian Region.

Additionally, the Philippine surfing team bagged the third position at the ISA World Longboard Championship in El Salvador, with Jay-R Esquivel clinching the bronze in the men's individual play. In the Thailand Kickboxing World Cup, the Filipino team racked up eight golds, four silvers, and ten bronzes.

World No. 4 pole vaulter EJ Obiena claimed victory at the Taiwan International Pole Vault Championship, beating American Matthew Ludwig. Meanwhile, 19-year-old tennis star Alex Eala continued her impressive run, defeating not just three grand slam champions but also climbing her way up to the 75th spot in world rankings.

Recently, the ICTSI Philippine Athletics Championships 2025 served as a selection event for the Southeast Asian Games in Thailand and the Asian Youth Games in Bahrain.
