Leaders of Kazakhstan, including the President and Prime Minister, make an appearance in Astana for the "Central Asia - Italy" meeting.

Kazakhstan's capital, previously Nur-Sultan, recently hosted the inaugural "Central Asia - Italy" summit on May 30, 2025. The summit saw the gathering of several key political figures, including the heads of state from Central Asian nations and an Italian delegation.

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan acted as host for this historical event. Among the other Central Asian leaders in attendance were Presidents Serdar Berdimuhamedov of Turkmenistan and Sadyr Japarov of Kyrgyzstan, who had arrived earlier to participate. Additional attendees included Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni of Italy, marking her participation in this regional summit.

Upon their arrivals, the Central Asian leaders were warmly welcomed. Specifically, Prime Minister Oljas Bektenov of Kazakhstan extended a ceremonious welcome to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan upon his arrival at the airport. Later, President Bektenov also held a meeting with President Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan.

The other Central Asian presidents (of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan) were invited to attend, as is standard for these regional summits, but their names were not explicitly listed in the available summaries. Nonetheless, the summit allowed these nations to engage in important dialog and strengthen diplomatic ties.

I faced an interesting encounter with Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni of Italy, as her presence at the "Central Asia - Italy" summit in Nur-Sultan marked a significant event in my politics. Furthermore, war-and-conflicts, general-news, and international affairs were abundant topics as the leaders exchanged ideas and strengthened diplomatic ties between our nations during this historical gathering.
