Leaders in the United Arab Emirates send warm wishes to India and Congo on their Independence Day celebrations
UAE Congratulates Nations on Independence Days and National Days
In a series of congratulatory messages, the UAE President, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, extended warm wishes to several global leaders on their respective national days.
On August 15, the UAE President congratulated President Droupadi Murmu of India and President Denis Sassou Nguesso of the Republic of Congo on their countries' Independence Days. The Republic of Congo, like India, celebrates its Independence Day on August 15, marking the countries' independence from France and British rule, respectively, in 1960 and 1947.
The UAE President also congratulated President Lee Jae Myung of South Korea on the country's Liberation Day, which commemorates the country's independence from Japanese rule in 1945. In South Korea, Liberation Day is observed on August 15, although the country's independence was officially declared on a different date.
Interestingly, Liechtenstein, a principality in western Europe, does not have an Independence Day in the traditional sense. However, the UAE President extended congratulations to Prince Hans-Adam II on Liechtenstein's National Day, which is observed on August 15 and coincides with the Feast of the Assumption of Mary and the birthday of Prince Franz Josef II.
In addition to the UAE President, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court, also sent similar congratulatory messages to the aforementioned leaders.
Meanwhile, the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) has denounced Israel's collective starvation of Gazans as a 'full-fledged war crime'. This statement comes amidst ongoing tensions between Israel and the Palestinian territories.
