Leaderboard for the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards shows Lady Gaga as the front-runner in nominations
The 2025 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) nominations have been announced, and the leading contenders are making waves in the music industry.
Lady Gaga leads the pack with 12 nominations, followed closely by Bruno Mars with 11 and Kendrick Lamar with 10. Other notable nominees include ROSÉ and Sabrina Carpenter with 8 each, Ariana Grande and The Weeknd with 7, and Bad Bunny, Doechii, Ed Sheeran, Jelly Roll, Miley Cyrus, and Tate McRae with 4 nominations each.
Lady Gaga's nominations are spread across major categories such as Artist of the Year, and her new album Mayhem has several nods. Bruno Mars's nominations include his collaboration with ROSÉ on the hit "APT." Kendrick Lamar’s notable nominations mostly come from his single "Not Like Us."

The VMAs will air live from UBS Arena on Sunday, September 7th at 8PM ET/5PM PT on CBS, and will stream on Paramount+. Fan voting is now open for 19 gender-neutral categories on vote.mtv.com until September 5. The show has added the Best Country and Best Pop Artist categories to this year's awards.
