Leaderboard at Oakmont's US Open: Carlos Ortiz Leads Six Players Clearing the Cut
Hanging tight atop the leaderboard after three rounds of the 2025 US Open at Oakmont, golf sensation Sam Burns has a slim one-shot advantage at four under. While the threat of LIV Golfers looms, several of them earlier bit the dust after only 36 holes. Among the departure crew was reigning champ Bryson DeChambeau, which means six LIV Golfers still have a shot at matching his success.
The LIV golfer to keep a close eye on heading into Sunday is none other than Carlos Ortiz. The Mexican fired a scorching 67 on Saturday to make a move to even for the tournament, just four strokes behind Burns. Last year, Ortiz expressed that he felt he "deserved" a US Open spot despite missing out on the Pinehurst No.2 Major edition[3]. One shot back of Ortiz is Tyrrell Hatton following his two-under 68 on Saturday.
Don't count out the chances of Aussie Marc Leishman, who carries plenty of confidence and sits at four over for the tournament. After his 68 in the third round, Leishman declared, "I've been playing probably some of my best golf of my career."
Two-time US Open champion Brooks Koepka finds himself five over, a score that may leave him feeling less than satisfied after closing the first round merely two strokes off the pace.
Just 11 shots off the lead sits Jon Rahm, who carded a 73 on Saturday. And let's not forget about Patrick Reed, who made history by becoming the fourth player in US Open history to achieve an albatross in the first round[4]—Rahm and Reed currently sit at seven over and eight over, respectively.
Stay tuned for further developments as the tournament unfolds. In the meantime, check out the updated LIV Golf leaderboard below:
