President Tokayev Praises Kazakh Peacekeepers for Strengthening International Security
In a meeting with officers and soldiers who served in the National Peacekeeping Forces, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev applauded their significant contributions to international security. According to Akorda, these peacekeepers carried out their missions with responsibility and courage, bolstering the Kazakh army's reputation and the nation's status.
Being a peacekeeper, the President noted, is an honor and a heavy responsibility. It is a task that calls for true bravery, and one that only the most valiant warriors can undertake. Tokayev expressed his heartfelt appreciation to all those present, acknowledging the complex global situation that often necessitates the deployment of peacekeeping forces.
The President reminisced about Kazakhstan's involvement in United Nations peacekeeping operations since 2014. Over the years, approximately 80 Kazakh citizens have served in various missions as military observers and staff officers, while around 700 military personnel have been involved in special operations. Tokayev commended the bravery of those who continue the legacy of Aliya Moldagulova, Manshuk Mametova, and Khiuaz Dospanova.
Last year, Kazakhstan made history by independently leading peacekeeping missions for the first time, on the Golan Heights. This marked a new chapter in Kazakhstan's collaboration with the UN. The President emphasized that Kazakhstan is now among the countries with a notable peacekeeping contingent and significant experience in this field.
Tokayev highlighted the importance of preparing servicemen to undertake critical missions. In a short span, significant progress was made in training fighters and equipping them with gear meeting international standards. He praised the troops' pragmatic and decisive action during a crucial moment in Syria, which showcased the high professionalism of the Kazakh Army to the world.
Currently, 158 Kazakhs are serving in peacekeeping forces in Africa and the Middle East, with plans to participate in other UN missions in the future.tokayev reiterated Kazakhstan's commitment to strengthening peace and harmony worldwide.
The President underscored the army's vital role in maintaining Kazakhstan's sovereignty and independence. He emphasized that the moral spirit, high professionalism, impeccable training, discipline, and cleanliness of soldiers and officers are the main pillars of the Kazakh Army. He praised the servicemen's patriotism, loyalty, and exemplary service, which serve as a worthy example for the younger generation.
Tokayev expressed his focus on ensuring law and order, patriotism, and responsibility not only for those in uniform but for all citizens. He emphasized the importance of these values becoming deeply ingrained in society as they work toward building a Just, Safe, and Strong Kazakhstan.
In his closing remarks, the Head of State thanked the meeting participants for their flawless fulfillment of their military duties and expressed gratitude to their families for their support. He declared, "The nation's cause is the state's cause." He reminded the peacekeepers that they carry the banner of patriotism and heroism high, and he expressed confidence that they would continue to serve diligently in defending their sacred Motherland.
Tokayev concluded by presenting state awards to military personnel for their exemplary fulfillment of their duties, courage, and selflessness demonstrated during the United Nations peacekeeping mission on the Golan Heights.
