Internet Star and Rapper Fat Comedy Faces Detention for Disregarding Court Orders
Rapper and internet star Giuseppe Sumrain, better known as Fat Comedy, is set to serve a detention sentence of twelve days, following his disregard of court orders prohibiting the distribution of a video showing an unprovoked slap attack on comedian Oliver Pocher.
The Higher Regional Court (OLG) of Frankfurt imposed the detention order in July 2025, citing Fat Comedy's persistent violation of civil court injunctions. This marked an exceptional step by the court to enforce compliance beyond financial penalties.
The incident in question took place at a Dortmund event in 2022, when Fat Comedy delivered a slap to Pocher's face, causing significant injury, including pain, ear damage, hearing loss, and balance disturbances. The court case has been delayed, with Pocher participating as a co-plaintiff and witness.
In March 2024, the Dortmund District Court sentenced Fat Comedy to a fine of 120 daily units of 15 euros for intentional bodily harm. The ongoing criminal case also includes accusations of more severe injury to Pocher.
The OLG found that Fat Comedy violated the corresponding injunctions in five cases, using the footage to enhance his own media popularity and to continuously perpetuate the humiliation of the creditor. Lawyer Burkhard Benecken, who represents Fat Comedy, stated that a high fine would have "hit him harder" than the detention sentence.
Fat Comedy has expressed regret for both the slap and the distribution of the video and other social media posts during the criminal trial in March 2024. He views the detention as a "justified lesson." The exact date for his detention is still pending.
