House of Representatives Suspends Plenary Sessions for Eid al-Adha Observance
The House of Representatives has decided to adjourn its plenary session until June 17, 2025, to mark the upcoming Eid al-Adha celebration. This announcement was made by Speaker Abbas Tajudeen during the plenary session on Wednesday. Committee activities will proceed as scheduled, he added.

Saudi Arabia authorities recently confirmed that Eid al-Adha, also known as Eid al-Kabir, would be observed on Friday, June 6, following the traditional moon sighting that signifies the beginning of the Dhul Hijjah month and the conclusion of the annual Hajj pilgrimage. The Day of Arafah, an essential day in the Hajj pilgrimage, falls on Thursday, June 5.
Saudi Arabia has also declared a four-day holiday for Eid al-Adha celebrations, running from Thursday, June 5, to Sunday, June 8. The Supreme Court has urged Muslims throughout the Kingdom to be vigilant for the crescent moon on Tuesday, Dhu Al-Qa'dah 29, and to report any sightings promptly to their nearest court.
Eid Al-Adha, a festival of sacrifice, commemorates the faith and devotion of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham). It is customary for worshippers to finance the ritual slaughter of livestock and distribute one-third of the meat to the poor and needy. This practice, known as Qurbani, is typically conducted by the head of each household, either personally or through online donations to charities.
