Frankfurt played host to a thrilling Champions League match last week, with approximately 18,000 Eintracht fans and around 1,500 guests, including 300 Galatasaray fans from the Istanbul region, in attendance.

The event saw a significant police presence, with the Federal Police deploying numerous personnel to maintain safety. Ticket checks were conducted at Frankfurt Central Station to ensure smooth transportation of fans, and the arrival and departure of spectators were reportedly orderly.

However, incidents involving pyrotechnics occurred at Frankfurt Stadium Station. Some fans set off fireworks, including at police officers, which led to overcrowding and the temporary closure of the station tunnel to better control the crowds. One person resisted arrest heavily during these incidents.

The police seized some pyrotechnic items and arrested three individuals for charges including setting off pyrotechnics, attempted escape, and assault on officers.

Rocco Stein, the Federal Police's deployment leader, praised the deployed personnel for their successful collaboration with state police and Deutsche Bahn AG. Stein stated that the security measures were effective in maintaining a peaceful environment throughout the match.

Rival fan groups were kept apart by the Federal Police during the match, and the safety of the railway infrastructure was a concern that was monitored closely by the Federal Police.

The arrests during the clashes at Deutsche Bank Park during the Champions League match involved collaboration between the Federal Police (Bundespolicei), the State Police (Landespolizei), and Deutsche Bahn AG. All these parties participated in handling the situation, with the Federal and State police coordinating along with Deutsche Bahn security for crowd and transport control measures.

In addition, public transport was heavily utilized due to construction work in the tram network. Despite these challenges, the event was overall well-managed, with Stein commending the efforts of the deployed personnel.
