Law enforcement in Bremerhaven join "Roadpol - Safety Week" for enhanced road safety
Roadpol Action Week Enhances Road Safety in Bremerhaven
The Bremerhaven Police, in collaboration with trainees from the Bremen University of Public Administration, conducted roadside checks on major thoroughfares in Bremerhaven on Tuesday, September 16. This was part of the Europe-wide Roadpol control week, an ongoing event aimed at ensuring safer roads for all road users across Europe.
During the checks, a total of 259 vehicles and drivers were inspected. The goal of these inspections is to reduce the number of severe traffic accidents and thereby enhance road safety in Bremerhaven. The coordinators of the traffic controls during the Roadpol Action Day in Bremerhaven were led by Nadine Laue.
The roadside checks at Columbusstraße and Stresemannstraße resulted in three criminal charges being recorded. Additionally, a total of 148 administrative offenses were recorded, including red light violations, driving under the influence of drugs, using a smartphone while driving, and improper or missing cargo securing. Fourteen drivers were prohibited from continuing their journey due to these administrative offenses.
Roadpol, a network of European traffic police forces, jointly tackles the most common causes of accidents. The "Vision Zero" campaign, a key focus of the Roadpol action week, encourages road users to critically examine their own driving behavior and act responsibly. The goal is to minimize deadly traffic accidents across Europe.
The Roadpol action week is an initiative of European traffic police forces to improve road safety across Europe. It serves as a reminder for all road users to drive responsibly and adhere to traffic rules to ensure safer roads for everyone. The Roadpol action week will continue across Europe during the week, with similar checks and inspections taking place.
