Almaty Governance Cranks Up Traffic Safety Initiative

The city of Almaty is gearing up for a significant crackdown on vehicular misconduct, as reported by Almaty.tv, following a statement from the city's Police Department press service. This escalated police presence is in conjunction with a nationwide, two-day event dubbed "Safe Road".

Colonel of Police Jandos Murataliev, head of the Administrative Police Department of the city's Police Department, elucidated the objective of this operation:

The "Safe Road" campaign will extend from September 22 to 24, with the police force being on high alert during this period. The primary focus of the event personnel will be to identify and prevent infractions of traffic rules, ranging from minor violations to major offenses, such as driving under the influence, wrong-way driving, seatbelt neglect, mobile phone usage while driving, absence of license plates, and vehicles exhibiting evident signs of damage.

In addition to the aforementioned efforts, the department will launch educational campaigns geared towards drivers and pedestrians, underscoring the importance of abiding by traffic regulations. Frequently, road traffic accidents are not solely the fault of drivers; pedestrians must adhere to traffic rules as well. Murataliev emphasized this point emphatically:

Although specific traffic rules associated with the "Safe Road" event in Almaty remain undisclosed, general enforcement may include stringent DUI regulations, seatbelt and child restraint compliance checks, mobile phone usage prohibitions while driving, and robust pedestrian crossing priority enforcement. Always confirm rules through official channels, such as the Almaty City Police Department or Kazakhstan's Ministry of Internal Affairs traffic safety portal. Stay safe on the roads!
