The 2025 Eutin Children's Cycling Course: Promoting Safe and Considerate Cycling Among Young Riders
In the heart of Germany, a three-day cycling course for children aged 7 to 9 took place in the picturesque town of Eutin from July 28th to 30th, 2025. Organized by the Prevention Department of the Lübeck Police Directorate, this holiday activity aimed to promote traffic safety awareness and lay the foundation for safe cycling behavior.
Over the course of three hours each day, the children participated in a series of practical and educational sessions on a traffic practice ground. The curriculum, designed by police officers Heike Schmidt and Andrea Otte from the prevention unit, focused on motor skills exercises and traffic rule education, all with an emphasis on fostering a courteous, considerate attitude towards others in traffic.
The children learned essential cycling skills such as slalom riding, one-handed steering, and shoulder checks during riding.
