Law enforcement agencies SAPS and Polmed unite to honor Youth Day together
Let's celebrate South Africa's Youth Day with a nod to the South African Police Service (SAPS) and Polmed! The two entities are teaming up to support the young cops patrolling our streets.
The SAPS Commissioner General, Fannie Masemola, shares that they've trained and employed over 30,000 young blooded South Africans aged between 18 to 35 over the past three years. According to Masemola, these fresh-faced cops are now on the front lines, beefing up crime-fighting efforts in communities where they're needed most. Some of them are even stationed at community service centers, directly helping crime victims.
UPGRADES ABOUND FOR SAPS
Masemola also said the SAPS is grooming 4,000 officers to become detectives, aiming to kick crime convictions up a notch. That's not all; another 5,000 officers have been trained as part of the Public Order Police unit, dealing with protests and massive gatherings day by day.
One standout officer is Nsuku Reanoldar Mathonsi, a 29-year-old from Burgersfort, Limpopo. This rad, young cop recently grabbed headlines after winning a gold medal at this year's Comrades Marathon – an achievement unmatched by any other female SAPS officer to date!
MATHONSI WINS HISTORIC VICTORY WITH POLMED SUPPORT
Limpopo SAPS spokesperson Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba revealed that Mathonsi snagged the Robert Mtshali Medal – an award given to runners finishing the Comrades Marathon in under 9 hours and 10 minutes. Mathonsi clocked an amazing time of 08:17:33!
Polmed, a medical scheme dedicated to the health and well-being of SAPS members, is tickled pink to have played a part in Mathonsi's epic journey. Neo Khauoe, Polmed's principal officer, expresses that Mathonsi's accomplishment mirrors the achievements of officers who benefit from comprehensive support.
