Law enforcement agencies are readying for an NCP event in Faridpur, staying vigilant as preparations progress
The National Citizen Party (NCP) held a daylong programme in Faridpur on 17th July 2025, with a focus on political mobilisation and protest against "Mujibism," as declared by party Convener Nahid Islam.
The event, which was originally scheduled to start at 11am, commenced around 1:30pm at the Faridpur Circuit House. Party leaders and activists, led by Nahid Islam, arrived in Faridpur from Khulna earlier in the day.
The programme began with a gathering at the Circuit House, followed by a march towards the Janata Bank intersection in the city. A street rally took place at the intersection, with central leaders, including Nahid Islam, delivering speeches addressing local issues and the party's manifesto against "Mujibism."
The programme included various activities such as the inauguration of the NCP's Faridpur district office, a meeting with families of political martyrs, and a visit to their graves at the Alipur graveyard. The event concluded at 1pm with the local office inauguration.
The NCP's daylong programme in Faridpur was aimed at mobilising public support to challenge the influence of the Awami League and its legacy in Gopalganj and beyond. Nahid Islam emphasised a continued campaign to "permanently free" the region from what the party terms as fascist control. The event also served as a reaffirmation of the NCP's commitment ahead of its manifesto announcement scheduled in August.
The party demonstrated political strength and solidarity by engaging with families of those who died for their cause, linking present struggles to past sacrifices. Extensive security measures were deployed, including police, intelligence, Coast Guard, RAB, and army personnel, reflecting concerns over potential violence based on recent clashes at previous rallies.
The NCP's strategic efforts to consolidate their presence and debate political dominance in the region were evident through the public rallies, symbolic inauguration events, and outreach to local communities. The party aims to continue its efforts in the coming months, leading up to the announcement of its manifesto and the general elections.
