Law Battle: Characters, Storyline, Preview, Initial Glimpses, and All Essential Details
In the upcoming year, ITV1 and ITVX will air the four-part drama series, 'I Fought The Law,' produced by Hera Pictures in association with All3Media International. The series is commissioned by ITV's Director of Drama, Polly Hill.
The series is based on Ann Ming's book, 'For The Love of Julie,' published in 2008. The drama tells the heart-wrenching story of Ann Ming, played by Sheridan Smith, and her 15-year campaign to change the Double Jeopardy Law following the murder of her daughter, Julie Hogg, in Billingham, County Durham in 1989.
Daniel York Loh stars as Ann's husband, Charlie Ming, in the series. Enzo Cilenti plays DS Mark Braithwaite, while Marlowe Chan-Reeves, Olivia Ng, Jake Davies, Victoria Wyant, Kent Riley, Jack James Ryan, Andrew Lancel, and Rufus Jones also feature in the series.
The series is directed by Erik Richter Strand and produced by Mark Hedges. Liza Marshall and Charlotte Webber are the Executive Producers for Hera Pictures.
A documentary, 'I Fought The Law: The Ann Ming Story,' narrated by Sheridan Smith, will accompany the series. The documentary tells the story of Ann's campaign for justice for her daughter, her unshakable determination, and how her fight has helped secure other landmark convictions, such as those of Stephen Lawrence's killers. The documentary includes exclusive interviews with Ann, her family, friends, retired police officers, and other key individuals close to the story, as well as rare archive and images.
Sheridan Smith has starred in multiple hit shows, including "Four Lives," "The Moorside," and "Cilla." Her portrayal of Ann Ming in 'I Fought The Law' promises to be another compelling performance.
