Laura Nahr from Magdeburg is heading to the ESC in Vienna - Laura Nahr’s Wonderland could take Germany to Eurovision 2023
Germany’s Eurovision preselection for 2023 is underway, with nine acts competing for a place in the grand final. Among them is 25-year-old Laura Nahr, a singer-songwriter from Magdeburg, who will perform her track Wonderland in Unser Lied für Liverpool on February 28. The national final airs on February 28, with the winner set to represent Germany in Liverpool on May 13.
Laura Nahr grew up in Magdeburg and began writing songs and playing instruments early in life. After releasing her debut single, Connected, in 2019, she pursued a master’s degree in music management in London. Now splitting her time between London and Berlin, she describes her music as ‘organic’ and her career as ‘self-determined’.
Her Eurovision entry, Wonderland, reflects themes of new beginnings, uncertainty, and searching for direction. The song will compete against eight other acts, including Sarah Engels, a 33-year-old singer and former Deutschland sucht den Superstar finalist. The winner of Unser Lied für Liverpool will be decided during the live broadcast on ARD at 8:15 p.m. on February 28.
Beyond Eurovision, Nahr has planned her first tour for this year. A highlight will be a hometown concert in Magdeburg on April 10.
The 67th Eurovision Song Contest takes place in Liverpool, hosted by Alesha Dixon, Graham Norton, Julia Sanina, and Mel Giedroyc. If selected, Nahr will perform in the grand final on May 13. The 2026 contest is already scheduled for Vienna, Austria.
