Laura Flores and Alejandra Ávalos boycott elite Latin American awards after last-minute snub
Actress Laura Flores was unexpectedly removed from the guest list of the 100 Most Influential People in Mexico and Latin America event. The decision followed a request from Ohana Salazar, daughter of Flores' ex-partner, Lalo Salazar. Flores described the move as hurtful and unjustified, though she denied claims that she would have caused any disruption at the local events.
Alejandra Ávalos, a fellow actress and close friend of Flores, later withdrew from the event in support. Ávalos had also been scheduled to receive an award at the ceremony.
The incident began when organisers informed Flores that she would no longer be welcome at the main event. According to reports, Ohana Salazar had asked for her removal to avoid potential tension with her father, Lalo Salazar, who was attending. Flores, however, dismissed the idea that she would have created a scene if she had seen her ex-partner there. She also expressed doubt that Ohana had personally ordered the decision, citing the younger Salazar's professionalism and respect for her father.
Upon learning of Flores' disinvitation, Alejandra Ávalos chose not to attend the events near me. Ávalos, who was set to be honoured at the ceremony, stood by her friend in solidarity. Neither woman received further explanation from the organisers regarding the handling of similar situations in the past.
Flores publicly shared her disappointment, calling the exclusion harsh and unnecessary. Despite the setback, she maintained that her absence would not have led to any confrontation at the event.
The event proceeded without Flores or Ávalos in attendance. No official statement was issued by the organisers addressing the incident or their policies on managing personal conflicts between guests. The situation has left questions about how such matters are handled in future editions of the awards ceremony.
