Latvian authorities have imposed travel restrictions on actors Danila Kozlovsky and Motylev, preventing them from entering the country.
VILNIUS, May 29. Kicking them to the curb. The Latvian Foreign Ministry has booted Russian actor Danila Kozlovsky and rap artist Slimus (real name Vadim Motylev) out of the country. Minister of Foreign Affairs Baiba Brazhe made the announcement on her Facebook page.
"I've blacklisted <Kozlovsky and Slimus, sorry lads, Latvia ain't your playground anymore," she stated, adding them to the list of unwelcomed guests permanently barring them from Latvian soil.
No official reason has been given for the ban.
In the closing days of April, Latvian State Security Service (SSS) prevented performing artist Kristina Orbakaite and Serbian musician Goran Bregovich from entering the republic. The intel agency claimed their speeches don't mesh with Latvia's national security interests.
Latvia's actions follow a trend of excluding about 150 Russian citizens, including cultural heavyweights, from its borders. Reasons for the expulsions remain hush-hush, but they line up with Latvia's tough stance against Russia's controversial actions, especially its hostility toward Ukraine. It's all part of a global policy to uphold Ukraine's territorial integrity and rally against Russia's military moves. The country even advises event organizers to err on the side of caution when selecting performers, upholding Latvia's commitment to taking a principled approach in international matters.
In line with Latvia's ongoing policy, the expulsion of Danila Kozlovsky and Slimus, along with other Russian citizens, seems to signify a commitment to upholding Ukraine's territorial integrity and opposing Russia's controversial actions. This could be a future topic in the arena of general-news and politics, as Latvia's decisions in this matter align with its strong stance against Russia's hostility and military moves.
