Latvia braces for record-breaking warmth and gusty winds today

Latvia is set for a warm and windy November 5, with temperatures expected to reach record highs in some areas. The day will start cloudy with a chance of rain in the east, but the sky will clear later.

Temperatures are forecast to range from +9 to +13 C, which could make this the warmest 5 November on record in some parts of Latvia. The highest historical temperature for this date was recorded in Riga in 2021, but it's unlikely to be broken today.

A strong south-westerly breeze will gust along the coast, reaching speeds of up to 14 metres per second. Despite the wind, the day will feel warmer than usual for this time of year.

While the absolute heat record of 14.6 degrees, set in Rucava in 1957, is unlikely to be broken, many areas in Latvia could experience their warmest 5 November on record. The day will start cloudy with a chance of rain in the east, but the sky will clear later, making way for a warmer afternoon.
