Latest updates on the selection of the city's mayor
The runoff election for Duisburg's Mayor is fast approaching, with the vote scheduled for Sunday, September 28th. In this article, we will provide you with essential information about mail-in voting for the upcoming election.
All eligible voters in Duisburg will receive an informational letter about the runoff. If you indicated a preference for mail-in voting during the municipal elections, you will receive necessary documents by Monday, September 22nd. Alternatively, you can request these documents online at briefwahl.unserwebsite.de or via email or post to In den Haesen 84, 47198 Duisburg.
The mail-in voting offices (briefwahlstellen) in the city, including the Rathaus (city hall) and Bürgerhäuser (citizens' centers), will operate from September 17th until September 26th. Mail-in ballots must arrive at these locations by 4 PM on September 28th. Mail-in voting locations are also available at district offices (except for the Mitte district office), the town hall, and the Election Staff Office at In den Haesen 84 in Homberg.
Each eligible voter has one vote in the runoff election, and your personal information (first and last name, date of birth, home address or alternate mailing address) is required when requesting a mail-in ballot.
It is essential to note that there may be waiting times at all polling stations on the first day. Voting by mail is possible, and you can vote directly at a mail-in voting location by September 24th. If you choose to vote by mail, the completed ballot must be returned by post in the provided envelope, dropped off at a mail-in voting location, or used to vote directly at a mail-in voting location by September 24th.

Remember, the deadline for requesting a mail-in ballot is Tuesday, September 23rd, at 6 PM. Voting by mail or in person is possible from Wednesday, September 17th, to Friday, September 26th. Direct voting or submission of mail-in ballots is possible at mail-in voting locations from Wednesday, September 17th, to Friday, September 26th, until 3 PM at the latest. Voting can also be done in person or by mail on election day.
