Fog Esports, a popular name in the League of Legends scene, has found itself embroiled in a heated controversy. The team has been accused of failing to pay its players and staff on time. The alleged delay in salaries spans over at least two months, leaving players and team members feeling frustrated and uncertain.
🌟 Esports Stars Feeling the Heat 🌟
The lack of payment has caused a stir within the team, leading to rumors of a potential boycott of the EMEA Masters tournament. However, the team decided to compete after setting a deadline for the payment of one month's salary by June 15, 2025. Regrettably, that deadline went unmet, with no payment received since.
🔥 The Coal that Keeps Steaming 🔥
Fog Esports reportedly promised to pay two months of salary to keep the team from forfeiting their matches at the EMEA Masters. But, only half of the promised amount was presumably paid, and the remaining salaries for recent months remain outstanding. The situation isn't limited to the current roster, as former players and staff members also face unpaid compensation.
🗣 On the Record, Off the Radar 🗣
The issue has been brought to the attention of Riot Games’ MENA branch and the EMEA Masters organizer, Vanguard, but a resolution has yet to be reached. Fog Esports' coach, Gerard ‘Jayrad’ Blasi, decided to stay away from the EMEA Masters, indicating the lack of organizational action to address the dispute.
🤫 A Whisper in the Wind of Amateur Esports 🤫
The organization has been silent on the matter, leaving many to question the difficulties faced by both amateur and professional esports teams in maintaining financial obligations. This case serves as a stark reminder of the challenges experienced by teams and players trying to make a living in the dynamic world of esports.
