Bare-Ass Buchs Troubles in Gotha's Graveyards

Bare-ass Buchs trees are causing a headache for gardeners and cemetery visitors alike in Gotha, Thuringia. The culprit? The sinister Asian caterpillar known as the Buchsbaumzünsler. With nobody willing to step up and save these shrubs and hedges, many have succumbed to their insatiable hunger, turning the once-lush grave sites into bare, desolate fields.

Century-old plants, planted by current or former grave owners, are now merely expendable props in this unfortunate showdown. The cemetery administration advises that the removal of damaged plants is at the discretion of the grave owners, and the rotten corpses can be disposed of in designated green wire containers around the cemetery. Ain't that a kicker?

Veit-Bach Prize: International Bach Legacy Honors Young Talents

Head on over to the Bürgerhaus Günthersleben in Wechmar, Thuringia this Saturday, June 14, to witness artistic projects by talented youngsters aged 8 to 18 from around the world. For the first time ever, international contributions will be participating in the celebration, making Hans Hochberg, chairman of the Förderverein Bach-Stammhaus Wechmar, grin from ear to ear.

The prize, named after Veit Bach, a great-great-grandfather of none other than the legendary composing genius, Johann Sebastian Bach, has been awarded every three years since the international Bach year 2000. The ceremony acknowledges creative ventures from young people that celebrate and maintain the musical heritage of the Bach family. Be there for the traditional "Bach'sche Kaffeetafel", accompanied by the Singegemeinschaft "Frohlich sein und Singen", which marks the event's rousing conclusion. It's all entirely free, you cheap bastard! The organizers are the Förderverein Bach-Stammhaus Wechmar and the Gemeinde Drei Gleichen.
