Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack Introduces Retro Racing Games
The Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack has expanded its offerings, providing access to classic games from various retro systems. Two such games, Extreme G and Iggy's Reckin' Balls, offer unique and exciting racing experiences for Nintendo Switch Online members.
Extreme G is a futuristic motorcycle racing game that combines speed with combat elements. This high-octane game features a championship mode with difficulty levels ranging from novice to expert, a shoot-'em-up mode, and multiplayer racing options. Players can engage in two-player split-screen modes such as Team Grand Prix, Head-to-Head, and Co-op. The race environments vary from underwater tracks to cratered areas, making for a thrilling and diverse racing experience.
On the other hand, Iggy's Reckin' Balls is a competitive action/puzzle game where players control characters attached to balls that they launch to knock opponents off a platform. This game emphasizes strategic timing and positioning, and while specific details about the Switch Online version are sparse, it traditionally features arcade-style multiplayer gameplay focused on ball combat.
Both games offer multiplayer modes, providing nostalgic, fast-paced competitive playstyles for classic gaming enthusiasts. The Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack also offers features such as save states and rewind capabilities for these titles, enhancing the playing experience.
In Extreme G, players compete in three-lap races, with the ability to use Nitro to boost speed up to three times per race. Powerful items can be picked up during races, which can be used to gain an advantage or cause misfortune for opponents. Similarly, Iggy's Reckin' Balls features power-ups and gadgets that players can use during the race.
The Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack allows access to select DLC at no additional cost, including DLC for popular games such as Animal CrossingTM: New Horizons, Mario KartTM 8 Deluxe, and SplatoonTM 2. However, it's important to note that the Expansion Pack does not include the full version of the game for the DLC.
To enjoy these retro games and their online features, a Nintendo Switch Online membership and Nintendo Account are required. Additionally, persistent Internet, a compatible smartphone, and a Nintendo Account age 13+ are necessary to access some online features on the app. Data charges may apply for online features.
The Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership auto-renews after the initial term. However, it's important to note that the Expansion Pack is not available in all countries. The Nintendo Account User Agreement applies.
