Latest disclosures reveal conditions stipulated by Russia for a peaceful settlement regarding Ukraine

In a series of talks, Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump's special representative, Steve Biegun, have discussed a potential peace treaty. This proposed agreement would secure Russia's current position on the frontline in Ukraine.

According to reports from Polish media, Trump's offer to Putin includes a package deal that includes a ceasefire, relief from sanctions on Russia, and territorial concessions by Ukraine. However, Ukraine would still have the right to potentially join NATO in the future.

The reported proposal involves an immediate ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine, the lifting or easing of Western sanctions imposed on Russia, and Ukraine making some land concessions to Russia, though the exact territories were not detailed.

The talks are part of backchannel diplomacy ahead of a planned meeting between Trump and Putin, where Trump has also set a deadline for a ceasefire in Ukraine. However, no official confirmation or detailed disclosure of these elements came from the meeting itself.

Other officials, such as European leaders and Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský, have criticized Putin's statements and dismissed such proposals as unrealistic. Significant disagreements remain between the parties regarding the potential resolution of the Ukrainian conflict.

The venue for the Putin-Trump summit is Alaska, a choice made to avoid legal issues related to the International Criminal Court's arrest warrant for Putin. The main topic of the meeting will be the situation in Ukraine, as stated by Russian President's assistant Yuri Ushakov. Diplomats from both countries are currently working on coordinating the details of the summit.

Russia intends to officially declare its claims on the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, as well as to fix the current line of demarcation in the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions. Vladimir Putin is ready to discuss peace with Ukraine, contingent upon Russia gaining full control over the territories of DNR and LNR.

Negotiations for a potential resolution of the Ukrainian conflict will take place on August 15 in Alaska. The Washington Post previously reported that this decision to hold the summit in Alaska was made to avoid legal issues.
