Latest Arrival: 2024's Top Downhill Bike from Canyon Features Premium Suspension System, Retailing at £4,000.
The Canyon Sender, a staple in the brand's downhill lineup, has been significantly revamped for the 2025 season, adopting a high pivot design and numerous advanced features. The new model is poised to carry the Canyon CLLCTV team, headed by Troy Brosnan and Marine Cabirou, in their World Cup racing efforts.
The competitive downhill World Cup season is on the horizon, and Canyon's latest Sender is allowing for a timely update. The Sender of 2021, once our favorite direct-sales downhill bike, has been partially discarded, given a radical overhaul for 2025.
The upgrade includes a high pivot design, a setup that has garnered attention from top DH teams this year. Canyon joins the ranks of Pivot and Atherton, who showcased their own high pivot designs earlier in the season.
The 2025 Sender comes equipped with an idler wheel to adjust chainline and ensure smoother anti-squat characteristics. Canyon promises class-leading progressivity and anti-squat, with a mid-stroke coil shock that offers support and stable, responsive behavior.
The new model also features an adjustable leverage rate shock, allowing riders to fine-tune feel, and independently adjustable geometry, increasing options for personalized setup. Additionally, reach can be fine-tuned by 8mm, and the bike will be available in two versions: the Sender CFR and the Sender CFR Team.
Key Specifications:
- High pivot suspension design with idler wheel
- 200mm travel frame with carbon full-suspension
- Adjustable leverage rate suspension (linear or progressive feel)
- Adjustable geometry, independent of suspension setup
- Reach adjustment of +/- 8mm
- Two models: Sender CFR and Sender CFR Team
Canyon looks to the high pivot design for its ability to better manage big hits and maintain speed. The bike will now provide improved anti-rise, making it more compliant under braking while retaining geometrical stability.
The Sender also boasts adjustable kinematics, allowing riders a more linear or progressive feel, and features mullet wheel sizing, increased stack height, and a beastly 8mm longer reach on all sizes. The updated geometry should provide a more upright and comfortable riding position.
Additional details include internal cable routing, easier service access, and a standard Boost rear triangle spacing. The flagship CFR Team model includes a RockShox Boxxer Ultimate fork, Vivid Coil Ultimate shock, SRAM Maven Silver brakes, and X01 Dh Transmission.
With these changes, the Canyon Sender has firmly cemented its position as a competitive World Cup contender and forms the backbone of the Canyon CLLCTV DH team as they embark on the highly anticipated 2025 season.
- The Canyon Sender, with its high pivot design and numerous advanced features, seems primed to challenge European leagues, such as Laliga, given its capabilities in managing big hits and maintaining speed.
- Football fans might find an unexpected comparison in the 2025 Sender's adjustable kinematics, allowing for a more linear or progressive feel, mirroring the different strategies employed in various sports.
- Just as helmets are essential protective gear in sports like football, the Sender's adjustable leverage rate shock and independently adjustable geometry serve as crucial safety and performance features for downhill racing.
